Analysis of Land Cover Changes in the Wae Tomu Watershed, Ambon City Using Geographic Information Systems

This study aims to analyze land cover change in the Wae Tomu Watershed, Ambon City, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The data used for the land cover change analysis were Landsat 7 satellite images for 2013 and satellite images for 2018 and 2023. Land cover was classified based on SNI 7465:2010. The results of this study show that built-up land experienced an increase in area in the 2013, 2018 and 2023 periods, in contrast to agricultural land and non-agricultural land which experienced a decrease in area. In addition, this research provides valuable insights into the impacts of climate change, areas vulnerable to natural disasters, as well as the potential for more sustainable natural resource management. The information generated can also increase public awareness of the importance of environmental conservation in the Wae Tomu watershed area, make it an important data source for policy makers, and serve as a basis for further research in an effort to maintain environmental sustainability in this and similar areas in the future
