The Role of Academic Supervisors in Improving the Quality of Graduates in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Al-Amien Prenduan University, Sumenep
Keywords:
Academic Advisor, Graduate QualityAbstract
This study discusses the role of academic advisors in improving the quality of graduates in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Al-Amien Prenduan University, Sumenep. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study collected data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that academic advisors play the following roles: (1) as diggers and enhancers of students' potential in developing academic abilities; (2) as planners, helping students develop study plans; (3) as motivators, providing academic support; (4) as information providers through the Simaster system; and (5) as problem solvers, guiding students in facing academic problems. Supporting factors for this role include easy access to academic information through Simaster, students' closeness to their advisors, and guidance via WhatsApp or face-to-face. However, there are several obstacles, such as students who feel they do not need guidance, an indifference towards their advisors, and limited time for their advisors due to other academic activities.
