Student Character Development According to Al-Ghazali and Its Consequences for Children's Moral Education at SD Nurul Islam Pamekasan

According to Al-Gazali, children's moral education in elementary schools is based on the development of students' character. This study aims to: (1) explain how students are given moral education at SD Islam Nurul Islam; (2) to find out how moral education shapes student character; and (3) to determine how moral education shapes student character. This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology. The researcher serves as the main tool in this research. Data sources are school principals and teachers. There are three data collection techniques used: observation, interviews, and documentation. Data is analyzed by reducing unimportant data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that: (1) The idea of moral education at Nurul Islam Islamic Elementary School is in accordance with Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective, which emphasizes teaching, example, and cognition. Apart from that, Imam Al-Ghazali uses a behavioristic approach as an educational approach, which produces a good approach between teachers and students. (2) The moral education process used is inseparable from various methods, such as lectures, examples, practices, advice, and sanctions. (3) Moral education has the potential to change the world, from the activities of students to their attitudes and speech
